Respite Care

What is Respite Care?

At times, Respite Care is commonly referred to as Adult Day Care or Short-Term Stay Programs. As the names indicate, respite care is a temporary program wherein seniors and aging adults are assisted for brief periods of time – days, a few weeks, a month, or a few months at most. During these short periods, trained caregivers help seniors requiring extra support with whatever they may need. Clients have the option of receiving this aid at home, or briefly staying in care facilities.

WhY CHOOSE Respite Care?

Respite Care is perfect for caregivers or families that require momentary breaks from the strains of helping their loved ones. Life can get busy; perhaps the caregivers are in need of time off, or your family is going through busy or stressful life periods.

Thankfully, respite care is on the more affordable side of senior care options, ranging from around $25 to $30 an hour in Canada. When the stays are longer, the fees will pile up, but this form of care might be necessary if you are attending a function and must be away from your aging loved one for some time, for instance, or if your caregiver is temporarily unavailable. It’s nice to know that this type of care is available if certain things come up and you have to be away for a while.

While some senior care centres do not provide overnight accommodations, Meaningful Living comes to you; our services ensure that you can remain in the comfort of your own home while receiving aid, meaning that you pay less and feel more at ease while still receiving top-notch care.
